DBT FINAL STAGE TRAINING REPORT February 7, 2018 by admin In December 2017, after months of training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, as well as hours of hands-on work at the center in Tehran, the OMID team embarked on it’s last phase of training in this discipline. The OMID team of psychologists, social workers, Management and education department went to Dubai to attend a one-day assessment and training to finalize the series of DBT trainings started months ago. Dr. Paul Grantham (Above) had assigned a comprehensive case assessment to be completed by the OMID team in the month leading up to the December training. Case assessments were presented by OMID staff and analyzed by Dr. Grantham and his team. During the one-day training, aside from the presentations and assessment, key questions about working with OMID girls on DBT were addressed. Following the training, all participants had to conduct an online test in order to further assess their knowledge and application of DBT. Following the successful submission of the case assessments, and the online test, OMID trained staff received a DBT certification from the British Psychological Society. In the coming year, the team will be supervised by Dr. Grantham and his team, to ensure that DBT is successfully implemented and sustained at OMID. Since the OMID team started using Dialectical Behavior Therapy as part of the program, the OMID girls have gained practical skills that have been helping them be more mindful. These new skills are also helping some of the young women at OMID to cope with distress and better regulate their emotions. According to the girls themselves, DBT is helping them see the world and the people around them in a new way. They have been able to clarify what their goals and values are, and learning to take steps to regulate themselves in ways that can help them reach those goals more effectively.
