MARJANEH HALATI ON “BREAKFAST WITH HOMA SARSHAR” September 19, 2017 by admin Marjaneh Halati, Founder of OMID, was interviewed on Saturday 16, 2017 by Homa Sarshar, on her LA based radio show called “Breakfast with Homa Sarshar.” Marjaneh talked on air about her research on the institution of marriage in Iran (during her studies at Cambridge University) where she learned about the prevalence of abuse and violence against women in Iran. She described how she was determined to initiate something to help the women in Iran and after 2 years of field investigations chose to focus on helping marginalized young women aged 15-25 as they were excluded from any programs available at that time. She then spoke of how OMID began with 15 clients in 2005 and is now serving over 200 young women at any one point in time. She also provided an overview of the holistic OMID program and the various aspects it covers. Marjaneh also talked about day to day practicalities and challenges, such as OMID’s annual budget which is $1,350,000. She then closed her interview with details of our OMID Los Angeles Fundraising Evening on 15 October and how people can buy tickets.
