RECAP: 3rd Annual Toronto Fundraising Event November 8, 2016 by Kim OMID Canada Foundation organized a very successful Evening of Hope at York Mills Gallery in Toronto on the evening of Sunday 23rd October. Yasamin Dadashi started the evening off with a welcome and introduction to OMID and its Founder and President, Marjaneh Halati. In her update Marjaneh Halati shared some stories of just some of the girls in OMID’s care and talked about the transformative nature of OMID’s work, including the peer education program. She stated that the longer term strategy is to have OMID graduates as its future leaders “No one is better qualified to lead and manage OMID than its own graduates.”In thanking all sponsors and donors on the night she pointed out that they are a vital part of the transformation of these girls’ lives. “OMID does transform lives, and you are a vital part of that transformation.” A video slideshow to music was then screened showing the multi-faceted elements of the OMID program, including the benefits and achievements of the girls in the program. Fundraising via art sales and appeals then took place, whilst The Circle Music Band and another well known musician rounded the evening off with live performances.
