RECAP: Los Angeles Fundraiser December 5, 2015 by Kim Friends of OMID LA once again passionately conveyed their commitment to making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged and abused young women in Iran. On the evening of October 29th, 2015, OMID Foundation held their intimate Los Angeles fundraiser at the home of Roxana Rastegar in Beverly Hills, with a wonderful group of over 60 friends of OMID. Master of Ceremonies actor Fariborz David Diaan brought his signature humor to the festivities introducing the amazing Marjaneh Halati, founder of OMID. Marjaneh inspired all by sharing triumphant stories of hope. Marjaneh informed the patrons of remarkable progress OMID has made in the past year and what is necessary moving onward and upward. A highlight of the night was footage of the OMID mountaineers club climbing the intimidating Mount Damavand. Everyone was moved and impressed with this amazing feat and the sheer energy of the girls. Famed musician Rana Mansour wrapped up the program on a high note. We also had the privilege of hearing a presentation by Nina Ansary, who discussed the situation of women in Iran and her latest publication Jewels of Allah. Successfully auctioned items included photographs by the OMID Girls and the Magic Carpet. A big thank you to Los Angeles based Siamak Nasiri Ziba. Siamak donated a magnificent photograph that sold for $2700. Our gratitude goes to Elahe Emami, who served a sumptuous dinner, and to Bahaneh Hobel, who donated wine enjoyed by all. None of this would have been possible without the help of Shari Rezai, who organized the evening with the help of her team Malika Abi, Kourosh Beigpour, Kataneh Haydarzadeh, Sara Rafiei, and Laila Salartash.
