RECAP: STRINGS OF HOPE EVENT IN SAN DIEGO February 7, 2018 by admin The Strings of Hope Persian-Indian fusion music concert supported both the OMID Foundation and International Association of Human Values (IAHV) in San Diego, CA took place on the evening of January 20, 2018. IAHV.org provides trauma relief and non-violent empowerment programs for refugee children in Jordan and Syria. The concert, held at the Art of Living Center in San Diego, was sold out. Ticket holders were treated to a fusion of Indian and Persian cuisine that was donated by San Diego businesses including: Balboa International Market, Bombay Coast Restaurant and Cakey Bakey Bakery. The evening began with the music of the magical Sitar by Rahul Neuman and Miles Shrewsbery on the Tabla drum. This was followed by the mystical Persian Setar played by Kourosh Taghavi and accompanied by Canadian, Saeed Kamjoo on the Kamancheh. OMID Foundation activist, UN ambassador mountain climber, and keynote speaker Sara Safari gave an inspiring speech on her recent climbs to Vinson Massif, in Antarctica and Mt. Everest, as well as her visit to meet the girls of OMID in Tehran. Additionally, OMID Angel, Bahar Fouladpouri was one of the speakers. A special thank you to organizer Rahul Kodkhani of IAHV and all of the wonderful volunteers that made this San Diego event possible. We especially wish to thank Sara Safari, Laura Farjood and Shirin Fouladpouri. Sara Safari has been raising awareness and funds for women’s and empowerment through her climbs and talks. Her recent climb in Antarctica,was to raise funds and awareness specifically for OMID Foundation. Her next climb in India will be to raise funds for IAHV.
