Recap: Vancouver Awareness Event November 18, 2016 by Kim Our first ever event in Vancouver took place on November 2, 2016 at the beautiful residence of Nader and Mana Mobargha. We are very much indebted to them for allowing our guests and us into their home. OMID’s founder Marjaneh Halati used this occasion to introduce OMID and the life changing work that is being carried out by the foundation in Iran. The guests were deeply moved by Marjaneh’s accounts about the degree of abuse, cruelty, and inhuman treatment that these young girls have had to suffer. Originally planned as an awareness raising event, funds were raised through donations, for this “great humanitarian cause “ as described by one of the hosts. We wish to thank everyone who came and especially Mana Mobargha and Zohreh Waibel for organizing and underwriting the event. We were touched by the welcome that we received in Vancouver and are already planning future events in Vancouver for 2017 and beyond. We are also pleased to announce that the Charities Directorate of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has granted full registered charity status in Canada to Omid Foundation Canada.
